How the match works: we compare the real swatch photo colors on this page using CIEDE2000, the industry color-difference formula, then take points off when the level or tone family differs. Formulas come only from the G&C chart rules, the Gray Mixing Calculator and the Hair Bar NYC Blue rule on this page. Anything not in that data says “Stylist to confirm”. Always strand test.

The Complete Color Service Flow.
Three stylist options for color, highlights and bleaching. Speed up the service, protect at the rinse, then finish with shine.
Each step sets up the next.
Speed-Up Color and Lightener Accelerator
Same rich color. A fraction of the chair time.
Add it to the mix, set your client under the dryer, and processing drops to 10–15 minutes. Vibrant, even results without the long wait.
From 25–50 minutes to 10–15.
Normal color processing takes 25–50 minutes, especially for gray coverage. With Speed-Up under a dryer, it’s 10–15 minutes, so you can take more clients per day.
- Time savings: from 25–50 min down to 10–15 min.
- Better client flow: clients love getting in and out fast, without sitting for long.
- More comfortable processing: a more comfortable, less itchy process for most clients, and good for the color.
Normally 25–50 min. With Speed-Up under the dryer: 10–15 min.
25 − 15 = 10 min saved
50 − 10 = 40 min saved
≈ 10–40 min back per client
15 min under the dryer, with 100% coverage in Beny’s field testing.
A win-win: you earn twice.
Charge a $10–15 Speed-Up add-on per client, as a time-saving premium upgrade, not a free speed trick. The salon makes more per visit.
Example: 4 Speed-Up clients a day × $10–15 = $40–60 extra per day.
Every Speed-Up client frees chair time, so the stylist fits in more clients.
Example: 4 clients × 10–40 min = 40–160 min freed per day, up to 40 minutes back per client.
Illustrative numbers only, not a promise of income. Suggested pricing, Beny’s recommendation; set your own salon price.
- Under the dryer only. Heat is what makes it work. 10–15 min total (G&C says 10, our stylists usually 15)
- Permanent, demi, high-lift and lighteners, with 5–40 Vol developer (per the product page)

- 1 bottle
- 100 ml / 3.38 fl oz
- Spray-pump top

Color Questions, Answered.
What’s the difference between N and NN?
On the G&C chart, .N is the Natural family, like 4.0 / 4.N. NN is Natural Intense, like 44.0 / 4.NN, Medium Natural Brown Intense.
What does .11 or .AA mean?
The chart calls the .11 family “Matt” and codes it .AA. For example, 7.11 / 7.AA is Medium Matt Blonde.
What mixing ratio do I use?
For standard hair at levels 1–10, use 1 part color to 1.5 parts G&C developer. For resistant hair at levels 1–10, use 1 : 1. For highlifts at levels 11–12, use 1 : 2 with double 40 volume.
Which developer do I use for toning with demi-permanent?
Use 5 Vol (1%) for 10 minutes or 7 Vol (2%) for 15 minutes.
How do I cover a lot of gray?
The chart says high percentages of gray, above 50%, show pigment more vividly. It recommends mixing your G&C shade with a G&C shade at the same level with a neutral base.
Hair Bar NYC Professional guidance: up to 50% gray, mix 3 parts of your shade with 1 part of the same-level neutral (up to 2 : 1 near 50%). Over 50% gray, use 2 parts of your shade, 1 part of the same-level neutral and 1 part of the neutral one level darker. Natural shades cover on their own up to 50% gray.
Mix 1 : 1.5 with G&C Cream Developer, 20 Vol for 35 minutes, or 1 : 1 for resistant gray. For example, 30 g 7.3 + 15 g 7.0 + 15 g 6.0 with 90 g developer. Demi-permanent shades, fun colors and gloss blend gray rather than cover it. Supergrays are on the chart without a coverage rule, so ask your rep.
General professional guidance; always follow the product instructions and do a strand test.
Can color lift pre-colored hair?
When you deposit on pre-colored hair, the chart says the G&C level must be the same as or darker than the current level. If the target is lighter, strip first with Blond Plex lightener powder.
What are correctors for?
The chart lists Yellow, Red, Orange, Violet, Blue, Green and Super Red correctors. They either intensify or neutralize pigment.
The chart prints no corrector dosage. Hair Bar NYC rule for Blue: about 1 g per 10 g of color, for example 6 g Blue with 60 g 6.0, counted toward the developer (66 g × 1.5 = 99 g).
Levels 8–10: 1 g per 10 g runs higher than other brands publish for blue mixers at these levels (about 2–5% of the color). Start lower and strand test.
General professional guidance; always follow the product instructions and do a strand test.
What is blue peroxide?
“Blue peroxide” is the salon name for our Blond Plex Violet Developer (10, 20, 30 and 40 Vol), the strong choice in the peroxide guide above. It neutralizes unwanted warm tones such as yellow and orange. It’s a developer, not a color, so it isn’t the same as the G&C Blue corrector. The 1 g per 10 g rule is for the corrector.
General professional guidance; always follow the product instructions and do a strand test.
Why does a shade say “not on the store yet”?
That version is on the G&C chart but not sold on the store yet. Ask your rep.
